The Sunday Run

It's a ritual. I don't know why. Church for athletes? Otherwise, we're all heathens and
infidels? In any case - 13.6 km, along here. But if felt like more. I had to walk for a good 5-10 min, too, while I tried (in vain) to fix my sunglasses. Didn't work. They're junk.

Happy Friday!

Daily run: 7.6 km, along this route. Flies were so bad, we cut our run short by 0.5 km.

Heard a fairly interesting talk today about selenium and VMS deposits. Interesting
to me, having nearly no experience with actual geochemical research. I found it
refreshing to see a scientist compare in situ geologic formations/deposits with
modern, active depositions which, theoretically, will become similar to current deposits
of economic value. He looked at hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor, both off the
coast of Chile, near Easter Island ("purely" magmatic origin), and in the Gulf of California (combination of magmatic origin and lots of sediments).

May flies get in your eyes. And hair. And mouth...

Ugh. The flies are out really bad today - but only by the water. And over pavement. So if you want to avoid them while running, don't run by the water, and run a few feet over from the sidewalk / pavement.

Today's mileage: 9.64 km, along this route.

Running route calculators are teh cool

Ran 9.89 km today. How do I know I ran this far? I used
Google maps - look at my route here.

Have to figure out to implement this locally on my webpage...

Coke IS it

This is it.
Yay. My new blog. Thanks to Dawn for the inspiration.

And I finally thought of a witty title. Hooray! Actually, it's something I'm sure that not many people will get. But... be done with it! It's done. And the name of obscure artist/band that may or may not have provided the soundtrack to a Hugh Grant movie (based on a book by an author who's previously best known work was the source material for aa John Cusack movie (best known for the rise to prominence of one of The D)), is obscure enough to be "witty," and yet literal enough to be ... well ... witty. Screw it.

Yay, wine!
