The waiting is the hardest part

Finally! I just checked the manuscript central website for GJI, and the first paper I
submitted for publication has had it's status changed to "Awaiting Editor Recommendation." This is one step up from "Awaiting Reviewer Scores" - and the one I dread the most. Rejected? Major revisions? Minor revisions?

I have a case of the Tuesdays

Got up at 5:30 this morning. And yet, it's 9 AM and I still haven't accomplished very much. Ran though, from my new address, along this route.

I'm not trying to be all preachy preachy, but I have conflicted views about the hydrocarbon industry, of which I have worked in before, and probably will again. Is it morally wrong to pollute the Earth? Probably. Is it wise to be energy-conscious and buy a hybrid vehicle / turn off the lights when you leave the room / walk the 1 km to the corner store instead of driving? Also true, and very responsible. However - are the hydrocarbon producers really the villains here? I mean - do the ExxonMobil's, Shell's, and ConocoPhillips' of the world have a responsibility to stop producing the black stuff? I don't think so - and I don't think that the industry is intrinsically morally bankrupt. Pragmatically, even public transport requires fuel. I mean, what do buses or airliners, or any other form of mass transit, use for fuel? Vegetable oil?

Yes, I am aware that there are "alternative" buses out there that run on bio-diesel or hydrogen fuel cells. But even then - what do you think the machines used to make the various components of fuel cells use for lubricant so they don't break down or burn out? Let me tell ya, it ain't water based...

Moving is not for the faint of heart

Moved all day Saturday - though I did manage to run as well - but I can't remember the route. My Sunday route was a little different though - I ran North of Princess along this route.

And then with the moving... Mostly helped others move, since I'm
sharing a storage locker with Dawn for the next six months or so. She's in Cowtown, and I'm supposed to be going to Cambridge, if I ever get the paperwork for my work permit / visa! I've managed to get most of my stuff in there over the last few weeks; this weekend was just the "odds and ends," which still required 5 separate loads in my SUV!
